Soil and Rock Mechanics Laboratory

Geocontrole - Geotecnia e Estruturas de Fundação SA is equipped with a Soil and Rock Mechanics, Water and Building Material Laboratory, since it’s founding in 1975, and this constituted one of the prime supports of its development.

The Laboratory inputs, gradually increasing, within a two-way relationship with the market has taken place by means of a sustained growth, resulting from the adaptation of a strategy oriented towards the future and an investment policy that, although cautious, has always significantly responded to the competitive forces of the market.

A strong response of Geocontrole to engineering design meant that laboratory gave primacy to soil testing, and other components were relegated to the background. In recent years, the suitability of national normative to european standards, has shown greater development in the components of the synthesized materials.

This statement is the result of the need for an adequate response to new demands for transport infrastructures, roads and railways, with emphasis on the design of platforms for high-speed trains, which led to new strategies for the Laboratory.
